Nothing.
Thinking of renting a camper from this company? Here’s your reality check.
Yes, the online offer looks amazing – sleek campers, great price, beautiful photos… What could go wrong? Well, a few tiny details that past renters like me wish we had known beforehand. So here’s your pre-rental survival guide:
1. The Contract Surprise: You’ll get the full rental agreement not days in advance, but about an hour before pickup – when you’ve already flown to the island and are 100% dependent on getting that camper (because you didn’t exactly book a backup hotel, did you?). The contract, unsurprisingly, is crafted to be delightfully one-sided – in favor of the company, of course. No time to read? No worries, just sign in the dark like the rest of us.
2. The Mysteriously Missing Features: Some of the lovely amenities that made you click “book” might suddenly become “decorative only.” In our case: no WiFi, no functioning power outlets (except USB), USB port by the driver’s seat not working (pro tip: bring your own phone holder if you plan to use navigation), a broken bedside cabinet, and built-in curtains that are apparently just there to look like privacy is an option.
3. The Language Barrier Plot Twist: WhatsApp messages in perfect English? Don’t get too excited – that’s ChatGPT talking, not the staff. In person, communication is exclusively in Spanish. So if you need help, prepare for a surreal scene: standing face-to-face with someone, translating your conversation live through a messaging app. Cozy, right?
4. The Return – aka The Plot Thickens: You might think everything went well… until the return. Forget any verbal agreements or issues you flagged earlier – those magically disappear. There’s no return protocol, just a silent farewell. Then, weeks later, comes the surprise: your deposit is reduced (for reasons they invent later), and any polite questions are met with, “It’s in the contract” and vague references to their team of lawyers. Very reassuring.
